Hiii! Welcome to Buy Art! Today it’s all about FLORALS. Here’s a link you can share with your friends if they like buying art, too: https://alexsteele.substack.com/t/buy-art
And now, to the flowers!
1. “Water Lily Series #10” by Ron Weiss, $4,750
Hand pulled screen print on raw linen with sewn edges. Buy it here.
This piece is massive, over six feet wide and five feet tall. Lotus pods are like Easter eggs for me, I get a tiny thrill every time I spot one in artwork. We dream of art budgets big enough for such magnificent works as this.
2. Daisy Bouquet Card by Coral & Tusk, $24
Embroidered cotton and paper. Buy it here.
Each Coral & Tusks embroidery is a mini masterpiece. Before Mick was born, I bought one of a mother bunny playing with her two baby bunnies, it’s so precious. Honestly, their pieces are so delicately made, it feels like this should be $124 instead of $24. Here’s the frame I’d put it in, without the glass.
3. “Plume + Furrow” by Keith Kralik, $415
Giclée printed photograph. Buy it here.
Traveling to the Plume and Furrow family farm in Colorado over all four seasons, Keith Kralik collected flowers and then pressed and arranged them to make this piece. Can you believe it?? This piece is sold as a photographic print and will be leaving their site forever(!) on February 14.
This newsletter is 100% free and always will be. If you’re a super fan, you can leave a tip! I love you.
4. “Blue Dahlia” by Maja Cunningham, $105
Linoleum block print, ink, paper. Buy it here.
No two block prints are the same, isn’t that wondrous!? The artist hand-carves a stamp, then coats it in ink and presses it into the paper, resulting in subtle differences between prints — a unique original every time. Slightly abstract botanicals send me.
5. “Fruit Piece” by Jan van Huysum, $5.95
Paper print. Buy it here.
Last but not least, the humble museum print. Don’t sleep on the postcard section in your museum gift shop! For less than six bucks, you can own a masterpiece and justify the price of a magnificent frame for it to live in.
