Bonjour darlings. It’s February 14th and we’ve got five artworks that fall somewhere along the spectrum of ridiculously cheesy and worthy of hanging year round. Snatch a Reese’s heart from your kid’s Valentine mailbox and have a look.
1. Pink Hearts x 4 by Andy Warhol, $150
Lithograph. Buy it here.
I mean, no one does “magnificently simple” better than Andy Warhol. Just in case we’re not starting out cheesy enough, I included this one in honor of my four babies.
2. Umbrella Couple 2 by Janet Bludau, $228
Archival ink print on fine art paper. Buy it here.
All rain-related romance is completely cliché and I would still hang this if I lived somewhere that received more than 12” of rain annually.
3. First Steps by Phoebe Wahl, $1900
Watercolor, collage, colored pencil, gouache. Buy it here.
A rare original piece by the iconic Portlandite known for her fairy-centric children’s books. If you’ve ever witnessed a human being’s first steps, you know the ridiculous quantity of love that fills your soul in that moment, hence this piece’s feature in the Valentine issue.
4. MAGIQUE LOVE BIRDS by Milou Neelen, $83
Giclee print on archival paper. Buy it here.
There are so many lame love bird motifs out there (although love birds themselves are quite marvelous), so I was pretty charmed by this line drawing with the casual romantic vibes I associate with the French.
5. We Are So Good Together by Dylan Fareed, $275
Letterpress. Buy it here.
An unfussy styling of an absolute truth. I’d put it in this red-on-red frame!
