Deep Dive ~ Answering your Q's
Including my choices with garments and how I feel about my value as a woman in my church
Thank you to each person who submitted a question for a real Mormon wife, aka, a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which I obviously am. Most of the questions were very respectful and gave me an opportunity to share some personal stuff. Asking for your grace and gentleness when listening.
1. The church’s cosmetic surgery policy + explaining the temple recommend
2. Comparing SLOMW and The Book of Mormon Musical
3. Do you feel less valued as a woman in your church?
4. Explainer on garments if you’ve never heard of them
5. My choices with wearing garments
6. My hope for the future
I hope this is helpful, and like I said, you can ask me anything I didn’t cover here. Send me an email anytime or feel free to leave a comment if you’re comfortable.
xoxo, alex
P.S.
Here’s the story of how Nate and I met :) thanks to whoever asked this!
Almost positive I've told you this before, but my 5x great-grandmother made the first pair of temple garments at the direction of Brigham Young at Nauvoo. (I am not LDS -- or anything else -- but sure am proud of my family history.)
Thank you for these introspective and careful answers. I’m also reevaluating/finding nuance in church membership and especially garments and your thoughts really made me realize I’m not the only one out here! You’re amazing.
