Hi! You get an abbreviated Handpicked today — I’m at Alt Summit in Palm Springs, CA right now, woohoo! It’s been an incredible few days surrounded by creative, kind, interesting, genuine, artistic women. Especially this one.
mom talk
My anxiety has been raging, my shoulders are tight, I miss my kids… so I went on a walk this morning. I made this audio segment as the sun was rising and the birds were singing, which were perfect medicine. I’ve picked up some priceless creative wisdom from the speakers here, although I’ve been a little unsure of the reactions I’d get when I introduced myself as a stay-at-home-mom…

Sorry to my college astronomy teacher but I was shocked (and amazed!) to discover that the Solar System is moving.
This breathtaking house in Washington makes me feel safe and cozy in that childhood kind of way, y’know?
Have you ever seen a cuter vase?
It’s nearly Easter, but my year on film for 2023 is allllmmmost ready!
Kacey Musgraves’ new album Deeper Well is a masterpiece. Adding The Architect to my list of songs I can’t listen to without crying.

Grateful for you.
Alex!!!! It was so nice meeting you at Alt Summit!!!
Happy to be on your mailing list, and loved your voice memo Alex! So glad to have crossed paths with you at Alt. First off -- a stay at home mom is MORE than enough (especially with 4 kids!) and I'm sorry to hear that you even questioned for a moment sharing that with people! I don't have kids and the first year I went to Alt in 2019 it felt like everyone was a mom AND an entrepreneur and "doing it all" and I felt like an outsider for the fact that I made the choice not to have kids. But all our choices are valid and beautiful and I hope you felt the love from folks this year for everything that you are! :) Also -- your feelings about IG (I read your "why I quit IG" post) are SO relatable and a constant struggle, even for those of us who use it purely as a business tool. Proud of you for setting the boundary and getting off the app. Can't wait to continue reading along with your newsletter!
