Jumping in the ocean in January
Also in here: wisdom from a mother of eight and the song I'm playing on repeat
Hi! Guess what I did? A winter dip! IT WAS AMAZING.
My friend Elizabeth wanted to celebrate her birthday by jumping into the Pacific Ocean at sunset. Because it was for her, I was weirdly calm about it; normally I would chicken out at the last minute, since I hate cold water and I’m absolutely terrified of the ocean. Somehow I managed to scramble into the freezing water, fully immerse twice (maybe three times, I can’t remember — I was so scared, you guys) without getting swept out to sea or dying of hypothermia. Quite the opposite: immediately when I got out of the water, I felt warm from head to toe, full of energy and joy like I’ve never experienced. Cold plunges just might be my entire personality now!

When I was thinking about having a fourth baby, I asked a wise mother of eight(!) how she knew when she was ready to have another child. Her answer was immediate and unwavering:

Wow, this quote: “You don’t have to change your entire identity to become good with money, but you do have to change the part that’s blocking you from making progress (whether that be the part that overspends, or undervalues your work, or can’t envision a future worth saving for).” Radical financial literacy, let’s goooo! Now here is a dress I’d wear every dang day.

I love ice breakers. I almost always ask someone where they were born, maybe because I’m such a birth nerd haha. It always leads on an interesting journey to wherever we’re standing. 10 more icebreakers, c/o J.S.

You guys know I’m very picky about what I put on my face, but Le Feu products make the cut. My sister Emily found this small-batch skincare company with an incredible story at a local craft fair a few years ago. All of us sisters swear by the original formula, and I’m dying to try their new face oil.
Grabbed this top and jeans to wear to Nate’s work events next weekend. Hoping to pass as an adult who knows what adults wear when they hang out with other adults.
Chiefs win!!! We celebrated with a pizookie, which always reminds me of noisy birthday dinners in high school at BJ’s Pizza in Laguna Beach. We used our family chocolate chip cookie recipe, pressed ten cookie dough balls into a cake pan, baked for 14 minutes, and topped with vanilla ice cream. Yum.

Grateful for you!!! xo
1. Love the Jenny Slate quote.
2. YES to the butterfly light switch plates.
3. I made that pasta and I was taking out my garlic from the oven, THE WHOLE BAKING DISH OF BUTTER AND GARLIC EXPLODED, shattering everywhere and spraying garlic butter all over. No one was hurt at all, so the mess of it all was almost funny, but the sad part was having to start the garlic all over. But! A great reminder to make this again!!!
Always a good day when your link lists come out! 🌞 Bookmarking the anxiety book and that lovely dress! Loved the ice breakers. But mostly, the swift meme takes the cake. SO good! xx
