Omg I was in Cup of Jo!
Also in here: new pants, snacky dinner, shocking self knowledge, a cover that made me cry, two SLOMW takes, Eleanor's fun Google tool, Nutella cookies
Hi hi hi! I’m so excited to share that I was in a piece about big families on Cup of Jo this week. (And this isn’t an April Fools’ joke!) I was thrilled to be included with several wonderful mothers whose tips were wise, clever, and funny.
shopping basket
Sleeveless dress: Can’t wait to wear this lightweight dress during a heatwave.
Soft pants: Very high hopes for these Everlane linen trousers, jeans are too mean to my waist these days.
Soft pants II: Picked out these cream pants on a self-date to Anthropologie on Friday night. Already worn them three times.
Metallic skirt: Eleanor picked out this faux leather skirt to get me free shipping on my J. Crew order because Lynn Chen influenced me to get this adorable pointelle ringer tee.
Fancy jellies: wouldn’t it be fun to wear these embellished jelly shoes as a bride?
home & motherhood
Good Hang: ugh, I could listen to Amy Poehler + Brandi Carlile all day. I especially loved their chats about changing their hair and Brandi’s jock kids.
Made me cry: Gigi Perez’s cover of Time of Your Life. Teens getting older? Photo booth? Song that transports me to Niguel Hills Middle School? Yeah, bye.
Bath shelf: Where has this brilliant bathtub invention been for the last 11 years?!
Dark cottagecore: 100% on board with the vibes of these cottages!
Snacky dinner: last night neither Nate nor I could summon the creativity to make dinner, so we had “snacky dinner” on paper plates, with peanut butter sandwiches on homemade bread, fruit, vegetables, nuts, cheese, and ultra-processed bunnies that no one ended up touching.
Good news, neighbor: Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood will be available on demand for free this summer!
How charming is this woman following her her grandmother’s recipe? (via Sarah)
Mormon wives: Although I opted not to watch the show, I’ve been keeping up with the recent (devastating) news about Taylor Frankie Paul in the newsletters and pods I consume weekly. Two takes I thought were very well done: 1. the tragic reality of how pop culture treats women like TFP // 2. a non-Mormon asks interesting questions about how we got here and Mormon writer Rebbie Brassfield gives some terrific answers.
Nutella cookies: Mick and I like to snuggle and watch YouTube shorts together while we wait for my morning tea to brew, and this woman’s “little treat every night” videos are his favorite. Dying to make these Nutella cookies.
Emoji kitchen: Eleanor showed us this mesmerizing Google tool — all the kids immediately gathered around me to play it together, it’s so much fun! Just google the words “emoji kitchen.”
Currently reading: Quiet by Susan Cain. My mom recommended it; it’s been revelatory. Turns out, I fall on the introvert side of center on the the extrovert/ introvert scale, which shocked me. And I’ve realized we have at least one introverted child, which feels like an exciting discovery.
Stopped reading: Sorry to my bb sister Mary who recommended it, but I couldn’t fully get into The Song of Achilles; it was beautifully written, just not my genre. Also, I almost stopped reading Theo of Golden because the first half was so slow. But I’m glad I finished it!
just for fun
BRB: off to make everyone a micro sundae!
Butter run: I can’t explain it, you just have to watch. (via Mary)
Coach screams at player: because she loves her so much. (some cursing)
Nature is magic: just look at magnified sand!

last thing
Most popular link last week: $47 white sweatshirt
I hope something good happens to you today.
