mom talk
Charlie had a really tough time hearing “no” so much at Target (tbh can’t blame him). After trying and failing four times to calm him down, I finally succeeded with one simple sentence:
new camera
Hopefully this isn’t too nerdy, but I’m SO excited…
I’ve been shopping around for a point-and-shoot 35mm film camera for about two years. I wanted a small, easily-fits-in-a-purse one that was fully automatic, made with glass in the lens (not plastic, like a disposable camera), and had a flash. Recreating the nostalgia of childhood photos = the goal!
My aunt Kristen, a breathing photography encyclopedia, spotted a little Canon SureShot Z155 on eBay for under $100. I immediately snatched it, just in time for my trip to the Super Bowl.
You guys, it has a date stamp!
My current professional setup is a Canon EOS 3 body + Canon L series 50mm f/1.2 lens. I use this combo for 90% of everything I shoot, including my family and personal projects. It shoots 35mm film, I prefer Kodak Portra 160.
I do not work with any digital cameras (besides my iPhone). But, as the Gen Z influencers well know, you can shoot film on a point-and-shoot nearly as easily as a phone!
I took the point-and-shoot to the art installation Seven Magic Mountains outside of Las Vegas. Here’s what I got.
And here are a few more photos from the first rolls of film I’ve put through the point-and-shoot:
Can you stand that date stamp?! So far I am super happy with this fun little camera; it’s in this perfect sweet spot between my phone and my pro camera.
If you have any questions about this camera, or shooting film in general, please ask away in the comments!
Thanks for indulging me in an unexpected Deep Dive!

No screaming deals, but Doen’s second-hand sale is here, hooray! Shopping second-hand is SO much better for the earth, and many of their pieces are 100% cotton, which lasts way longer than synthetic fabrics. I own and love this delicate top. Got my eye on this mountain dress.
This year I’m trying to get rid of acne for good. I’ve been using prescription tretinoin for about eight weeks, which has visibly helped, and spot-treating stubborn breakouts with this Crude serum, a postpartum gift from my friend Lexie. It smells like pressed green juice and reduces redness magically.

“People often ask me if I’m ‘passing the torch.’ I explain that I’m keeping my torch, thank you very much – and I’m using it to light the torches of others. Because only if each of us has a torch will there be enough light.”

That point and shoot seems incredible! And your hair looks great! 😍😍
Love that quote! 👏
