Sisters are magic and so are these clogs
Also in here: Nate's at the Super Bowl, grandparent names, and a painted cow
Hi from rainy Manhattan Beach!
Nate is in New Orleans for the Super Bowl this week for work. The kids and I have been dying over every photo he’s sent — even though he’s 5’11”, he looks like a teenager next to the players, they are so gigantic haha. Charlie, who is six and a huge Chiefs fan, is quite indignant that he didn’t get to go to the game considering he “was even BORN at Kansas City!!” Some day, pal.
painting
I had a couple quiet hours yesterday while Mick napped, so I decided, what the heck, I’ll try this ridiculously difficult painting, but the cow actually turned out to be a piece of cake. The clouds aren’t right yet (they never are) and that grass in the foreground is going to take me days, but it felt so good to start something new.

today’s bouquet
My favorite ad Nate’s ever made :-)
What I wouldn’t do for these lonnngggg luxurious kitchen countertops!
To post or not to post.
A font made of pancakes. I love the internet.
One of my secret talents: I’m excellent at reading tongue twisters, especially Fox in Sox by Dr. Suess. Here’s a fun list of tongue twisters, including a few I’ve never heard.
No cars allowed on these bike-only roads.
Matteo Lane makes me laugh. so. hard.

Pink radicchio is my new favorite flower.
five sisters
Every now and then, every single one of my sisters — there are five of us — sends me a link for Handpicked all in the same week. Whenever it happens, it feels a tiny bit magical!
From Emily: a great article on the names grandparents give themselves. What do you think about all the fancy nicknames out there now? My parents are called Granddad and Grandmom and Nate’s parents are called Nana and Papa. Would love to hear your grandparent names!
From Sarah: an indie folk cover of The Office theme music (which is on my list of songs that make me cry). That fiddle?! Ughh so good.
From Lizzy: the Liberty London x Adidas collab. We are *howling* over this little tracksuit, you’re kidddding.
From Mary: celebrities reacting to impressions of themselves, HA! Patrick Warburton *sent* me. Mary also shared this barn-burner in our sister text thread this week:
“God may be in the details, but the goddess is in the questions. Once we begin to ask them, there’s no turning back.”
— Gloria Steinem
P.S. We also have two really cute brothers and a bunch of great in-laws. Love y’all.
in my basket
A rugby tee I could see myself wearing and not feeling silly in!
Just ordered this duster to throw on over my sweats on morning walks. And I grabbed this cashmere pullover too, hopefully it’s as warm as my faithful Kule Betty sweaters!
I could be wrong, but this $34 A&F sweater looks like a pretty decent dupe for the beloved Jenni Kayne crewneck.
Time for a mini deep dive. I’ve always been a clog person, and for years I’ve sought a pair of shearling lined clogs because of my icy feet. I never fell in love with the famous Birkenstock Bostons, despite their popularity, and this year I kind of gave up and decided to invest in some Ugg Ultra Minis once and for all. BUT THEN at the last minute, I spotted the Ugg Discoquette Slides for *half the price* and added them to my cart. Y’all, they. are. the. ones! Obviously they’re insanely comfy and cozy, plus they don’t flip-flop at all. They stay firmly on my foot all the time, even while I’m chasing children around, despite their backlessness. And the platform makes me feel like a Cool Mom. Five stars!

ugg clogs, you guys! they’re marvelous and only $75! (also shout out to Four Lemons in SLC for this “buy art” sweatshirt for inspiring the name of my new newsletter)

My kids have a Gigi (my sisters kids have called her GranDebbie) but I feel like some of our friends gave fun grandparent names... Poppy and Bubbly, Bebe, and Lolly. The one thing I feel like southern people do right is grandparent names.
