Hi! What are you up to this week? It’s a super short newsletter today because I’m in “holiday mode” – Nate took some time off of work! We’re doing summery things like taking the kids to the beach, making homemade piña coladas, and napping. Hooray!
Oh, also! Remember last week when I told you about an art project I’m working on? Here’s a little hint. This is the very first photo (taken on my phone) from the very first session of its kind – I’m so excited to start offering shoots like this really soon! I can’t wait to photograph more of you. That’s all I’ll say for now. More details to come :)

Top of the summer to do list: make raspberry ricotta cake. Ridiculously delicious; may I recommend subbing blackberries !
This article kind of melted my mind: the age of average. Makes me want to paint my house turquoise or something. (via Rachel)
Been wearing these flip flops and none others since eighth grade
A terrific bring-everywhere bag
I continue to make knowing where a carton of milk came from my #1 hobby.
If you’re looking for a few good newsletters, try Omnivore for recipe curation, Making It Work if you’re a parent trying to stay sane (but like, in a joyful way), Can We Read for finding great new reads to enjoy with your kids, The Daily Respite for an uplifting thought and quote every morning, and SFGirlByBay for beachy, dreamy lifestyle inspiration.
We're rewatching Brooklyn 99 right now and it is up there with The Office and Seinfeld for me. We frequently have to pause it because I'm laughing too hard and can't go on. I'm with Joanna on this one, Andy Samberg forever.
I declare Pollyanna and The Music Man perfect family movies for the summer. Even though I watched these over and over as a kid, they still dazzle me with the incredible cinematography, costumes, music, and the dynamics and morals I never fully understood until I rewatched them with my own kids. Aunt Polly’s spectacular house deserves an award as best supporting actress, by the way. And is there anything sweeter than little Ronnie Howard waiting for the Wells Fargo Wagon? Come on!
Made me smile: a whale shark glides through a family of sardines.

The Age of Average! What an interesting article- thank you for sharing it! On a related note, when I renovated my home, I painted the front door and a huge wall in the kitchen bright turquoise. With no regrets!
Thanks for sharing the Age of Average link. I resonated with the AirBnB aesthetic - I remember traveling (in Europe) several years ago and not being able to identify where I was due to the ubiquity in design/decor - and even food options!
