Hi my lovely readers! How’s your week? Did you watch Jimmy Kimmel’s monologue last night? Honestly — and I don’t say this lightly because I have a phobia of sweeping statements — I thought it was perfect. It felt gracious, wise, and deeply heartfelt. Jimmy and I have similar politics and, apparently, similar family dynamics, with loved ones who believe and vote the opposite of us. If you’re in that boat, or you’re just curious, it was absolutely worth the 28 minutes.

motherhood
We watched the premier of DWTS with our tweens for the first time — what a hilarious experience. They were totally dazzled and slightly shocked that such a show has existed this whole time. In truth it was a little long/ grown up for them, so we’ll probably just watch our favorites from now on. They’re rooting for Elaine — her Parent Trap moment was so cute! — and Nate and I are rooting for Robert Irwin, who was AMAZING?! (And we haven’t watched last night’s yet!)
A maternity dress that made me wish for juuust a second that I was pregnant.
I take it back, we are now a placemat family. (via Cynthia)

Learning about the actual size of Africa with my middle schooler.
Trying to figure out where I went wrong that *not one* of my children liked the gorgeous new Dusen Dusen jammies.
“All day long, I realized, I was sorting and codifying everyone I saw: us, them, us, them, us, them.” (via Platonic Love)
the arts
Immediately added John Derian’s new sticker book to cart! His stickers are our family-favorite art supply.
Wow, the transformation of this 100-year-old West Hollywood home is so cozy and cool.
I’m a big fan of big art :)
Speaking of big art: an 1894 lace motif, turned into a mural on a French museum.
Mesmerized by these tape-transfer collages!

Cool fall jumpsuit alert! I’d wear it with a turtleneck and and high tops.
Double checking — you guys all wear your bespoke halo flower crowns to elementary school pickups, so I should get one, right?
Desperately searching for a corner of my home that would justify the purchase of this passionflower ottoman.
These moissanite earrings are at the top of my Christmas list! They remind me of my favorite pair I wore every day in eighth grade, with my Roxy sweatshirt and so much eyeliner.
At the age of 35, I finally bought myself a proper bag. It’s the first designer (read: non-Target) bag I’ve ever owned! Big day.
just for fun
My kids love this guy’s life.
Confetti ring!
Artichokes please.
Nate is the number one reason I love football. Carrie Underwood is second. Shaboozey is third.
If I wasn’t already dressing up as Mother’s circus animal cookie for Halloween this year, I’d wear a pumpkin crown and go as some sort of squash monarch. (Nate maybe you could be hay king?)

My mom worked at Coach during my preteen years when my sisters got many wristlets and wallets and bags and I was too young to appreciate or want them. Gonna see if my mom saved any bags from her time there! It really is such a timeless brand.
