Wowwwwww didn’t know about flower fields! Considering doing this drive one of the next weekends!!! Any suggestions on a fun local lunch or snack stop or anything else to add on?
Ooooh yes you have to go!! here are a few thoughts.
I don't know any good food in Carlsbad, sorry to say, but there's a terrific outlet mall right beside the flower fields if your people are up for some shopping.
One place worth stopping for a treat on the way is JD Flannel donuts in San Juan Capistrano, it's pretty close to the freeway and the greatest donuts in California or maybe the world.
In between San Clemente and Carlsbad is a stretch of coastline owned by the BLM that is completely protected and largely untouched, it's part of Camp Pendleton and the lore of my childhood says that its very similar to what the whole coast looked like before colonizers. Super beautiful.
Other stops in Orange County if you want to break it up: Bluebird Park in Laguna Beach (order a naked coconut shake from Active Culture); Shaw's Cove in Laguna Beach (very different from our beaches - get Gina's Pizza), the original Rainbow Sandal factory in San Clemente, the Mission at San Juan Capistrano garden tour (my favorite place to photograph!) and the antique shops across the street.
Text me and I'll send you a voice note with a few other things about the fields -- too long to type!
Have you seen the movie CODA? The main character wears red sneakers which is what made me buy my first pair of red Supergas :) i've always loved a very brightly colored shoe!
Share how your hollow eggs turn out! it's honestly such a chill activity, i want to keep doing it after easter has passed! and way less mess than dyeing, eek
I agree that books really connect you to humanity. I am currently reading "Remarkably Bright Creatures," and I find myself comforted that my pain is somehow universal.
Absolutely stunning!! Can’t wait to see your deep dive into all things ranunculus 💗🌱
I’m so excited!!

Also which art supply store is this? 💕
It’s blick on SMB! I think the west hollywood one is bigger/ better selection but less convenient
Your eggs turned out PERFECT! I am still determined to make this happen this weekend, fingers crossed.
And that tablecloth, Anthro vibes! Also truly digging those Vans, I want more red in my life this summer!
