Soccer Mom Talk, feat. the most awkward moment of the season
Also in here: springy photos + lmk your favorites in Tucson/ Phoenix!
Hi hi hi. How are you. How’s your week. I’ve been putting off making my best-of-2023 book for some bizarre reason, but during my procrastinating I did find this springy photo from a few years ago. It’s giving… handpicked. Wink!

Does anyone listen to these? Substack doesn’t give me that data so I have no idea!
This one is about an exceptionally awkward moment at a soccer game, and the old advice I wish this young person knew.

Any readers from Tucson? I’m driving through there in May with my girls and would love to know where we should eat/ stop/ shop. First on my list: this mother-daughter-owned home store, Bon. Let me know what spots you love in Tucson/ Phoenix!
Sticks and stones, love.
Surprised and delighted at how quickly my kids devour these.
Tips for new grandparents. So many gems in here.

Third and final sportsy link of the day. To quote Nate’s exact text when he sent this Simone Biles video: “She’s the best. Period. In the world. Ever.”
32 photos taken in 1924. No. 30 is my favorite.
Still on my radical financial literacy journey and shamelessly adding this to my cart.
Confession: I *rarely* purchase an item of clothing without texting my sisters about it. Exhibits A and B. Thanks to my sister Lizzy for emotionally supporting my recent Kule purchase. And by the way, she’s been recommending both of these items in my wardrobe for years — don’t know why I waited so long.
Eleanor’s tenth birthday is only six weeks away :’( definitely surprising her with these strawberry birthday candles!

New newsletter I wasn’t expecting to love: Bobbi Brown’s Substack! Though I should have known it would be great; I’m *enthralled* with her Miracle Balm in the color Magic Hour. It’s one of six things I ever put on my face.
I’m not much of a phone accessory person buuut maybe now I am. (via Cynthia)
100% guarantee that I’m the only person in my house who would like this springy soup recipe. Making it anyway!

Grateful for you.
So many recommendations for Tucson! We have so many amazing restaurants, it's overwhelming. Seis, La Estrella, and Agustin Kitchen at Mercado San Agustin (plus all the cute shops), and right down the street is a shipping container village called MSA Annex. They have great local shops, plus a couple of good restaurants. Downtown/4th Ave area food favorites: Reilly, Street Taco (local Chipotle basically), Cup Cafe (brunch), El Charro and Charro Steak, Cafe a la C'Art, Maynards, HUB, The Coronet, Boca Tacos, Miss Saigon, Anello, and 5 Points. There are a bunch of cute shops around downtown/4th Ave like Classic Rock Couture and Pop Cycle. Other favorite restaurants: Locale, Mosaic Cafe (the original looks out over the city), Prep & Pastry, Kingfisher, Dante's Fire, Maru, Wildflower, Guadalajara (tourist place that locals love too), The Parish, Teaspoon, Wild Garlic Grill, Vivace, Tucson Tamale, and Ikkyu. La Encantada is the more upscale outdoor mall, and they have some local shops mixed in. Places to visit: Tohono Chul is a botanical garden with a children's museum section in the back, Sonoran Desert Museum, Children's Museum downtown, and you can always trek up Mt. Lemmon for cooler weather (about an hour drive up).
Yeah Tucson! I’m here (there?) rn visiting in laws for kiddo’s spring break. I second all of this (and am keeping notes for my future visits). At Tohono Chul, the restaurant is awesome too. We had the La Estrella donuts at our wedding in place of cake! We just went to La Chaiteria on Congress, incredible vegan and non-vegan Latin-inspired dishes. Do an evening hike (or just park) to watch the sunset — Tumamoc, pusch ridge. Stay indoors midday, it will already be hot. But it’s really beautiful and quiet and making this LA contingent question our lives.
