So many recommendations for Tucson! We have so many amazing restaurants, it's overwhelming. Seis, La Estrella, and Agustin Kitchen at Mercado San Agustin (plus all the cute shops), and right down the street is a shipping container village called MSA Annex. They have great local shops, plus a couple of good restaurants. Downtown/4th Ave area food favorites: Reilly, Street Taco (local Chipotle basically), Cup Cafe (brunch), El Charro and Charro Steak, Cafe a la C'Art, Maynards, HUB, The Coronet, Boca Tacos, Miss Saigon, Anello, and 5 Points. There are a bunch of cute shops around downtown/4th Ave like Classic Rock Couture and Pop Cycle. Other favorite restaurants: Locale, Mosaic Cafe (the original looks out over the city), Prep & Pastry, Kingfisher, Dante's Fire, Maru, Wildflower, Guadalajara (tourist place that locals love too), The Parish, Teaspoon, Wild Garlic Grill, Vivace, Tucson Tamale, and Ikkyu. La Encantada is the more upscale outdoor mall, and they have some local shops mixed in. Places to visit: Tohono Chul is a botanical garden with a children's museum section in the back, Sonoran Desert Museum, Children's Museum downtown, and you can always trek up Mt. Lemmon for cooler weather (about an hour drive up).

Yeah Tucson! I’m here (there?) rn visiting in laws for kiddo’s spring break. I second all of this (and am keeping notes for my future visits). At Tohono Chul, the restaurant is awesome too. We had the La Estrella donuts at our wedding in place of cake! We just went to La Chaiteria on Congress, incredible vegan and non-vegan Latin-inspired dishes. Do an evening hike (or just park) to watch the sunset — Tumamoc, pusch ridge. Stay indoors midday, it will already be hot. But it’s really beautiful and quiet and making this LA contingent question our lives.

You said Phx too, so if you’ve never been to La Grande Orange, that has some delicious pizza. Or if you can head more east towards Mesa, Myke’s Pizza inside Cider Corps is amazing, as is Worth Takeaway (their special right now is a ham and burrata sandwich I am dying to try)—probably delicious even without ham. Plus, their banana pudding is so good and I don’t even particularly like pudding.
